Mattituck Inlet is entered from Long Island Sound between two breakwaters set 400 feet apart, with a flashing red light on the west jetty. The federal channel carries 7 feet at low water, 100 feet wide at the entrance and 80 feet wide thereafter, running about 2 miles to the hamlet. Mud bottom with good holding. Fresh water can be taken nearby.

Modern Yachts Mattituck lies 0.5 nautical miles south with a hauling ramp and repair shop. Strong's Marine is 0.9 nautical miles south-east and sells petrol and diesel. The federal anchorage off the marinas holds well in 7 feet.
