Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchor in mixed sand, mud, weed and rock, so set the anchor with care and check it holds. The site is sheltered from winds between north-west and west through north, but stays open across the bay to the southerly quarter, which builds a chop in a fresh sea breeze.
Practical
Fresh water is available locally. Broadwaters Cove Marina lies 1.2 miles west and New Suffolk Shipyard at Cutchogue Harbor 2.2 miles south-west, with a fuel dock and a few transient moorings. Cutchogue Harbor itself offers more enclosed anchoring nearby.
Ashore
The North Fork wine district begins within a few miles inland, with vineyards open for tastings around Cutchogue and New Suffolk. The hamlet of New Suffolk, reached from the shipyard, has a town dock, a small beach and a handful of waterside places to eat.
