Guide
Approach and anchoring
Marblehead Harbour is a deep, well-marked anchorage on the Massachusetts north shore, open to the south-east. The club lies on the north-west shore of the harbour. Berthing is mostly on moorings reached by club launch.
Practical
Founded in 1878, the oldest yacht club in Marblehead, with membership open to the public. Three launches serve the mooring field. A galley serves the deck, and Old Town shops and restaurants are a short walk away with a public car park next door.
History
From the 1870s to the 1930s Marblehead was a centre of recreational sailing and small-boat racing, and home to several America's Cup boats and sailors. The town now holds six long-established yacht clubs.
