Guide
Approach and anchoring
Manatee Pocket is a natural creek-fed inlet that boaters use as a storm refuge on the Atlantic coast of Florida. Anchoring is on sand with good holding, clear of the marked channel, and the inlet gives shelter from wind on most quarters. A county mooring field operates within the pocket, with depths of around 5 to 7 feet at mean lower low water.
Practical
Fresh water is available. Mariner Cay Marina lies 0.2 nautical miles to the north-west and Pirate's Cove Marina 0.2 nautical miles to the south-east, both with fuel, water and transient berths.
Ashore
The Port Salerno waterfront district sits at the head of the pocket, with seafood restaurants, charter docks and a working commercial fishing fleet within walking distance of the marinas.
