Guide

Approach and anchoring

Enter the Patuxent River between Drum Point and the Naval Research Laboratory pier, then turn into Back Creek. Pontoons mix fixed and floating berths with depths suiting most cruising yachts. VHF channel 9.

Practical

Around 175 berths including 30 transient, shore power from 30 to 100 amp, fuel berth and pump-out. The yard runs a 50-ton travel lift for hull painting, fiberglass and engine work. Gated site with private heads, showers, laundry, swimming pool and loan bicycles. La Vela Italian restaurant on site.

Ashore

The Calvert Marine Museum sits about 1 km along the waterfront, with the 1883 Drum Point screw-pile lighthouse rebuilt on its grounds in 1975. The Riverwalk boardwalk and the restaurants of Solomons Island village are within walking distance.
