Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north or west of Belle-Île. Sand bottom under the buoys. Protection from NW, N, NE and W. Open to the east and south. Swell from south rolls in over the island's northern shore in southerly winds.
Practical
31 visitor buoys managed locally. No services at the mooring field itself. Port de Saint-Jacques lies 1 NM SW, Port aux Moines 2.6 NM W for landings, water and provisioning.
Ashore
Belle-Île-en-Mer is the largest of the Breton islands, 85 km² of moor and farmland. GR 340 coastal path circles the whole island in about 100 km. Le Palais, fortified by Vauban in the 17th century, lies by road on the eastern coast.
