Approach and anchoring
Enter the Morbihan through the Port-Navalo pass. Strong tidal streams run up to 8 knots on springs at the entrance, weakening inside the gulf. Anchor on sand, holding reported as good. Protection from NW through N, NE, E and W. Exposed to southerly winds funnelling up the gulf.
Practical
No services on the mooring. Port-Blanc landing stage 0.8 nm south on Île aux Moines, Arradon 1.1 nm east on the mainland. Both villages have shops and restaurants.
Ashore
Passenger ferry from Port-Blanc to Île aux Moines runs year-round, crossing in 5 minutes. Coastal path around Île aux Moines, 17 km loop. Arradon village has a bakery, grocery and several creperies within 300 m of the landing.
History
The Golfe du Morbihan contains some of the largest concentrations of Neolithic megaliths in Europe. The Cairn de Gavrinis, on an island 3 nm south of this anchorage, dates from around 4000 BC.
