Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Gironde passe ouest then turn north inside Bonne Anse. Uniform sand bottom. Open to the south and south-west, use only with stable winds from the N to E sector. Strong tidal streams run in the estuary mouth, plan the entry around slack water.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. The small harbour of Bonne-Anse lies 0.7 NM north, La Tremblade 6.1 NM north up the Seudre channel for berths and fuel.

Ashore

Zoo de La Palmyre is 1.5 km inland from the beach, one of the main zoological parks in France with about 1600 animals. Forêt domaniale de La Coubre covers the dunes north of the anchorage with marked walking and cycling trails through maritime pines.
