Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entry via the well-marked Jaudy channel, usually taken on a rising tide because of strong currents between La Corne lighthouse and the Men-Noblance cardinal. Sand bottom provides reasonable holding. Shelter from NW through W and from E round to SE. Exposed to the N and to NE swell running up the channel.
Practical
Forain anchorage only, no services on site. The port of Tréguier lies 1.6 nm to the south with berths, water, diesel and full chandlery. Port-Blanc lies 4.2 nm to the west as an alternative refuge.
Ashore
Tréguier cathedral of Saint-Tugdual at around 2 km up the estuary, late 13th to 15th century, one of the landmarks of the Trégor. GR 34 coastal path runs along both banks of the Jaudy.
History
The Jaudy was used as a sheltered access to Tréguier, a bishopric founded by Saint Tugdual in the 6th century and one of the nine historical dioceses of Brittany.
