Yacht club founded in 1889 on Steamboat Road, Greenwich Harbor, Connecticut.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter Captain Harbor from Long Island Sound, leaving Great Captain Island to starboard, then head north-east into Greenwich Harbor. Maximum draught at the club docks is 6.5 feet at mean lower low water. Hail the marine staff on VHF channel 68.
Practical
Guest and transient moorings are available without club membership, with launch service included. The club docks are usually kept for members, so visiting yachts are placed on moorings; short alongside time for pick-up and drop-off can be arranged on VHF 68.
History
The club was formed in 1889 from the former Greenwich Yacht Club and moved to its Steamboat Road site in 1901. The clubhouse, built in 1921 in Mediterranean Revival style by architect Henry Pelton, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010 for its role in American yacht racing.
