Approach and anchoring

Approach from the east, keeping clear of Les Poulains rocks to the north marked by a cardinal buoy. Drop on sand patches in 4 to 8 metres, avoid the rocky heads. Shelter from south-west to south, fully exposed to the north-west and the Atlantic swell. Strong tidal stream off the point at springs.

Practical

No facilities at the anchorage. Sauzon 1.5 nm to the south-east has a drying harbour with visitor moorings, water on the quay, and shops. Le Palais 4.6 nm to the south-east has the main marina with fuel berth, 380 pontoon berths, and the ferry terminal from Quiberon.

Ashore

Sarah Bernhardt's fort above the point, owned since 1894 by the actress and now a museum open April to November. Coastal path GR 340 runs along the cliffs, 1.5 km from the anchorage to Sauzon. Phare des Poulains built in 1868, automated since 1983.
