Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the west in settled weather only. Rock bottom with limited holding, best used as a lunch stop in calm conditions. Sheltered from the east by the Belle-Île coastline, fully exposed to the prevailing W and NW swell. Keep clear of lobster pots marked along the shore.
Practical
Forain mooring with no services. Sauzon dries at low water and takes visitors on buoys or alongside at high water, 1.7 NM east. Le Palais, the main harbour of Belle-Île, lies 4.6 NM east with 470 berths, diesel, shipyard and all shore facilities.
Ashore
The GR340 coastal path runs along the cliffs above the anchorage and links in one hour to Sauzon's pastel-fronted houses and the Pointe des Poulains, site of Sarah Bernhardt's summer fort.
