Approach and anchoring

Reached from the South Channel of the St. Clair River, a marked route along the south side of Harsens Island. Current runs 3 to 6 knots on the river, shoals lie outside the channel. The club sits about half a mile west of South Channel Yacht Club.

Members-only yacht club with dining and dock space. Visitor berthing on request. The address is 7800 South Channel Drive, Harsens Island, MI 48028.

History

The club operated as the Riverside Club before becoming Idle Hour, and is the last surviving hotel of six that stood on Harsens Island in the early 1900s. The other five all burnt down once cars made northern Michigan resorts easier to reach.
