Full-service marina of around 350 berths on the Huron River, 1 mile south of Lake Erie in Huron, Ohio.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter from Lake Erie through the Huron River mouth, then continue upriver to the lagoon system on the south bank. Approach channel marked, dredged for pleasure craft. Transient berths handle vessels up to 45 ft.
Practical
Fuel berth with petrol and diesel, pump-out, electricity and water on pontoons. Onsite chandlery, indoor and outdoor storage, drying area for jet skis. Vikings Den restaurant and a snack bar on premises. Swimming pool, playground, volleyball and basketball courts on site.
Ashore
Town of Huron centre and the Huron Boat Basin lie about 1 mile downriver. Lake Erie beach at Nickel Plate Beach Park 2 miles east. Cedar Point amusement park 8 miles east at Sandusky.
History
Built by Morten and Violet Solberg starting October 1960, with the first five docks opened in September 1962. The marina has stayed family-run since.
