Free city dock on the Elizabeth River at Olde Towne Portsmouth, Virginia, at the foot of High Street and at ICW Mile Marker Zero.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Elizabeth River across from Norfolk's Waterside. The Elizabeth River Ferry calls at the same landing, so keep clear of the ferry slip. The dock can sit a few inches under water at high tide on spring ranges.
Practical
Complimentary short-term mooring for vessels up to 40 ft, capped at 36 hours and once per 30-day period. No power, water or pump-out. Check in at the kiosk across the street. Ocean Yacht Marina is 0.2 nm south, Tidewater Yacht Marina 0.3 nm north for full services and fuel.
Ashore
High Street runs straight inland with restaurants, shops, the Portsmouth Visitor Information Center and the Naval Shipyard Museum within three blocks. Olde Towne historic district stretches a few streets north.
