Approach and anchoring

The Hampton River runs in from Hampton Roads under the US 60 bridge. Customs House Marina and The Docks at Downtown Hampton lie to port, with the anchorage to starboard, just under 0.1 miles east of Customs House Marina. The river is well marked and carries good depth for most cruising boats.

Ashore

The historic district of Hampton sits within walking distance of the waterfront, with restaurants and shops along Settlers Landing Road. The Hampton History Museum and the Virginia Air and Space Science Center are both a few hundred metres from the docks. Hampton Yacht Club lies 0.3 miles to the south-west.

History

Hampton traces its origins to 1610 and is among the oldest continuously settled English communities in the United States. Its waterfront has served as a fishing and shipping port on the Chesapeake Bay for four centuries.
