- Harbour
Town-run marina at the foot of Whitfield Street, at the mouth of the East River in Guilford, Connecticut, with access to Long Island Sound.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach through Guilford Harbour from the Sound, with Faulkner's Island lighthouse offshore as a landmark. The channel is buoyed past Grass Island into the East River. The marsh entrance is shallow at low water, so a tide-rode approach is advised for deeper-draught yachts.
Practical
122 berths and 14 river moorings, with transient berths and moorings for visitors. Pontoons have 30 and 50 amp shore power, fresh water and ice. There is a fuel dock, a pump-out station, a chandlery, showers and a launch ramp. The marina holds Connecticut Clean Marina certification.
Ashore
The Guilford Town Green, one of the largest in New England, is about 1 km north with shops and restaurants around it. The Henry Whitfield House, a 1639 granite house and Connecticut's oldest, stands roughly halfway along Old Whitfield Street.
