Approach and anchoring
Leave the ICW near mile 98 and run roughly seven miles up the Great Ogeechee River. Floating docks with about 15 feet on the approach and 20 feet alongside. The river carries a strong tidal current, so time your arrival near slack water.
Practical
60 slips, 5 of them transient, family-run since 1972. Petrol and diesel, a ship's store with bait, tackle and provisions, and dry and wet storage. The largest fixed boat hoist in Georgia, rated to 45 feet and 15 tons. Fish Tales restaurant is on site.
History
Fort McAllister State Historic Park sits on the same riverbank, a Confederate earthwork built in 1861 to 1862 to block Union warships from Savannah. It repelled seven naval attacks before falling to Sherman's troops on 13 December 1864.
