Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Charlotte Harbor towards the mouth of the Peace River, picking up the marked channel that leads round Punta Gorda point to Retta Esplanade. Entrance channel carries about 7.5 ft at MLW. Slip depths vary from 7.5 to 3.5 ft at MLW, so deeper-draught yachts should call ahead.
Practical
111 permanent slips of which 97 take transient or long-term boats, plus 31 free day-use docks for visitors to the shops and restaurants. Roughly half the berths accept yachts up to 56 ft. Live-aboards admitted. Florida Clean Marina certified. Provisions, chandlery and 30 plus shops and restaurants on site.
Ashore
Punta Gorda historic district and the Peace River Wildlife Center at 1 km north-east. Laishley Park Municipal Marina and the Harborwalk pedestrian path at 0,9 NM north-east. Charters, kayak rentals, fishing guides and sunset cruise boats operate from the marina pontoons.
History
The site was rebuilt as a shopping and marina complex on the former city docks. The area was hit hard by Hurricane Charley in August 2004 and again by Helene and Milton in autumn 2024, with several rounds of dock and shop reconstruction since.
