Anchorage in Lemon Bay near Englewood, Florida, in the southern reach of the bay close to Stump Pass.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Lemon Bay is a shallow, narrow bay carrying the Intracoastal Waterway between Englewood and Manasota Key. Stump Pass is the only connection to the Gulf of Mexico in this area and shifts with sand. Keep to the ICW channel, as depths fall away quickly outside it.
Practical
Open anchorage on a sand bottom. No facilities on the water. Skip's Marina on Placida Road lies 1.1 miles to the north-east and Stump Pass Marina 1.4 miles to the south-east, both giving Gulf access.
Ashore
Stump Pass Beach State Park occupies the peninsula at the bay's south end, with Gulf-side beach and walking trails between the shore and the Intracoastal.
