Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom, sheltered from north through east. Depending on the wind, boats pick the better-protected side between here and DeSoto Point. A dock on the river side serves mainly fishing, with a tender landing.
Practical
No facilities at the anchorage. Bradenton Yacht Club lies 1 mile east and Blenker Boatworks and Marina 1.1 miles west.
Ashore
Emerson Point Preserve covers 365 acres of coastal hammock with six miles of paved hiking and cycling trails and boardwalks. The Portavant Temple Mound, the largest Native American temple mound in south-west Florida, was built by the Safety Harbor culture between 900 and 1725.
