Coastal anchorage on the Côte Vermeille between Port-Vendres and Banyuls-sur-Mer, mixed sand and rock bottom.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from seaward in light easterlies. Bottom is sand with rock outcrops, so aim for a sand patch and check the set. Protected from W, fully exposed to E winds and Mediterranean swell. Clear out if the weather turns onshore.
Practical
No services at the mooring. Banyuls-sur-Mer 1.1 NM south and Port-Vendres 1.7 NM north-west both have full facilities, water, fuel and provisioning.
Ashore
The stretch of coast forms part of the Réserve naturelle marine de Cerbère-Banyuls, the first marine reserve created in France, established in 1974. Specific anchoring and diving rules apply inside the reserve perimeter.
