Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east. Bottom of sand, rock and Posidonia seagrass, so drop on a clear sand patch to avoid damaging the seagrass. 51 moorings laid out seasonally. Sheltered from NW, W and SW winds, exposed to the easterly sector.
Practical
Moorings are managed as part of the Natura 2000 marine site. Port-Vendres 1.3 NM to the NW and Banyuls-sur-Mer 1.4 NM to the S for provisioning and all services.
Ashore
The site is a 17-hectare coastal park owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, on the grounds of the former Nobel dynamite factory founded by Alfred Nobel's company in 1870. A museum trail and boatyard for traditional Catalan lateen boats are open to visitors.
History
The Nobel factory produced dynamite at Paulilles from 1870 until its closure in 1984. The site was then cleared of industrial buildings and opened to the public in 2008 as a protected coastal park.
