Approach and anchoring
Approach from seaward along the rocky coast. Rock bottom under the buoys. Protection from NW through W to S. Fully exposed to the tramontane from the north and to easterly swell. Anchoring outside the buoy field falls within the Natural Marine Reserve of Cerbère-Banyuls, where a regulated mooring scheme applies.
Practical
Four buoys only, no services on site. Banyuls-sur-Mer harbour lies 1 NM to the W, Port de Cerbère 2.2 NM to the S for water, fuel and provisioning.
Ashore
The buoy field sits inside the Cerbère-Banyuls marine reserve, the first marine reserve created in France in 1974. Underwater trail of the reserve at Peyrefite cove just north. Coastal path of the douaniers runs along the cliffs above the cape towards Banyuls.
