Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south, staying clear of the foul ground that extends off the headlands on each side of the bay. Bottom is a mix of sand, rock and weed: look for a sand patch and dive the anchor to check holding. Open to the south and SW Atlantic swell; only workable in settled N to E weather.
Practical
No shore facilities. The nearest refuges are Port du Palais 4.3 NM NE, main harbour of Belle-Île, and Sauzon 4.4 NM N, both with visitor moorings and provisioning.
Ashore
The GR 340 coastal path follows the cliffs above the bay and links Port-Coton and its Aiguilles rock stacks, about 1 NM west, to the Pointe du Skeul. Port-Coton is the stretch of coast Claude Monet painted in a series of 39 canvases in 1886.
