Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchor on sand in 4 to 8 metres at the head of the cove. Sheltered from W, NW, SW, S, SE and E winds by the cliffs of the north coast of the island, fully exposed to the N and NE with swell rolling in from the Quiberon passage. Approach by day only, no lights, keep off the rocks on either headland.
Practical
No services at the cove itself. Sauzon harbour lies 1.3 NM W with visitor moorings, water and a fuel berth at the pontoon. Le Palais is 1.8 NM SE, the main port of the island with full services and daily ferry from Quiberon.
Ashore
GR 340 coastal path, the sentier côtier of Belle-Île, passes above the cove and links to the Pointe des Poulains lighthouse 2 km NW, former home of the actress Sarah Bernhardt. Sauzon village with its painted harbour houses is a 30 minute walk along the path.
