Approach and anchoring
On the North East River in colonial Charlestown, minutes from I-95 at exit 100A. Fresh water and well sheltered. Reached from the bay about 7 nautical miles north of Turkey Point.
Practical
214 berths, 115 of them covered sheds, with year-round wet and dry storage. Two travel lifts of 25 and 50 tons handle boats up to 65 feet with 20-foot beams. Transient berths available.
History
Charlestown was laid out in 1742 by Act of the Maryland Assembly at Long Point on the west bank of the North East River. A 300-foot wharf at Water and Conestoga Streets shipped tobacco, grain and flour. It is the oldest town in Cecil County.
