- Type
- Harbour
City-run marina on the Cooper River, off Calhoun and Concord streets in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach depth around 30ft, about 20ft dockside, with fixed and floating docks. The marina monitors VHF 16. Strong tidal currents cross the berths, so plan arrival and departure near slack water. Wakes from passing tour boats and ships set boats rocking on the exposed faces.
Practical
30 berths, of which 24 are transient, taking vessels up to 120ft. Shore power in 30 and 50 amp, water, 89-octane petrol, clean restrooms, showers and free laundry.
Ashore
The South Carolina Aquarium is next door at the foot of Calhoun Street. A Harris Teeter grocery store is within walking distance, and the historic downtown, with the Charleston City Market, is a short walk south.
