Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Baie de Seine through the Ouistreham lock, which opens around high water. The canal runs from the lock south toward Caen. Commercial and ferry traffic have priority on the approach channel. VHF 68 for the lock.
Practical
Haul-out, winter storage, hull and engine work. Dry storage area on site. Fuel, water and provisioning available at the adjacent Ouistreham Riva-Bella marina, 1.1 nm north.
Ashore
Ouistreham town centre and the Riva-Bella seafront are within walking distance of the canal. Sword Beach, one of the D-Day landing beaches, runs east of the town. The Grand Bunker museum, dedicated to the Atlantic Wall, stands about 800 m from the lock.
