Approach and anchoring

More than a dozen low islands screen this tidal harbour, and Goat Island Light marks the entrance between Goat and Folly islands. Hold off the working moorings on sand and mud. The harbour dries in part on the flats, so sound carefully and allow for the rise and fall. Cape Porpoise harbour master is on VHF.

Practical

The harbour carries around 120 moorings, most of them worked by the lobster fleet, so visiting room is limited. Fresh water can be taken at the pier. Lobster boats fuel and land their catch here daily. Kennebunkport Marina and Chicks Marina lie 1.9 nm W up the Kennebunk River, both with diesel, water and berths.

Ashore

The village shops and a lobster wharf restaurant stand at the head of the pier. Goat Island Light, kept by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, can be reached by tender. Dock Square at Kennebunkport is about two miles west along Route 9.
