Approach and anchoring
Approach from offshore clear of the Roches du Cap, marked by a cardinal. Entrance between two jetties with red and green lights, easily identified by the volcanic basalt cliffs of Mont Saint-Loup behind. Sheltered from all sectors once inside. Strong tramontane from NW can blow across the bay. VHF 9. Max draught 3.8 m, largest berths take yachts up to 35 m.

3400 berths across eight basins labelled A to H. Fuel berth with diesel and petrol at the entrance, open year round. Water, electricity, wifi on pontoons. Showers, toilets, laundry, wastewater pumpout. Travel lift 50 t and dry storage at Port a sec. Chandleries, sailmakers, riggers, three boatyards. Full town services, supermarkets 500 m.
Ashore
Plage Richelieu sand beach 500 m E of the entrance, Plage de la Grande Conque black volcanic sand 1 km W. Musee de l'Ephebe on the harbour, Greek bronze statue from the 4th century BC found in the Herault river. Fort de Brescou island fort 1 nautical mile offshore.
History
Agde was founded by Greeks from Phocaea around 525 BC as Agathe Tyche and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in France. The modern marina at Cap d'Agde was built from 1970 as part of the Mission Racine plan to develop tourism on the Languedoc coast, designed by architect Jean Le Couteur.
