Guide
Approach and anchoring
The 253-acre island lies off the south-west tip of St Albans Point and is reached only by boat. Mud bottom holds well. The anchorage is sheltered from the SW to SE; North Hero gives cover 5.6 miles to the NW if the wind backs into the open quarter.
Practical
The state park marina has 100 slips for vessels up to 65 ft and 15 first-come moorings. Fresh water is available, all slips carry 30 and 50 amp shore power, and free pump-out is offered to any boater on the lake.
Ashore
Burton Island State Park has walking trails, a swimming beach and a nature centre. Canoes and kayaks rent on site. The island sits on the Lake Champlain Paddlers Trail. The Island Runner passenger ferry links the park to Kill Kare State Park on the mainland.
