Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south between the Pointe de Combrit and the Pointe de Mousterlin, entry marked by the lighthouse of Bénodet on the east bank and the semaphore of Sainte-Marine on the west bank. Tidal stream up to 3 knots in the estuary at springs. Mooring field sheltered from all compass points by the banks of the river. VHF 9.
Practical
180 buoys shared between the SNSM, the commune of Bénodet and the commune of Combrit Sainte-Marine. Marinas on both banks, Port de Bénodet to the east, Port de Sainte-Marine to the west, each with water, electricity, fuel and sanitary block. Capitaineries open all year.
Ashore
Beach of Le Trez at 500 m from the Bénodet marina. Casino of Bénodet on the seafront at 400 m. Sentier côtier GR34 along the Odet to Combrit Sainte-Marine, small ferry across the river in summer. Pointe de Combrit fort, built 1862, at 1.5 km.
History
The Odet was used from the 19th century for steamer cruises between Quimper and the sea, the so-called remontée de l'Odet. The service continues today with the vedettes de l'Odet, linking Bénodet to Quimper through the gorges of the river.
