Guide
Approach and anchoring
Sheltered from N, NE and NW. Open to the south and west. Sand and rock bottom, anchor in the sandy patches to avoid fouling the chain. Stay clear of the Pointe de Beg Melen lighthouse sector at the western end of the island.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no facilities. Closest services at Port-Tudy 2.3 NM east, with fuel, water, shops and the ferry terminal to Lorient.
Ashore
The coastal footpath GR 34 runs along the cliffs above the bay. Réserve naturelle François Le Bail protects the geological sites on the north coast of Groix, including the garnet-bearing glaucophane schists. Village of Locmaria 2 km inland with a bakery and a small grocery.
