Anchorage on the west coast of Cap Corse, just north of the fishing harbour of Centuri, in the Agriate and Cap Corse marine area.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the W in clear water. Bottom of sand and seagrass, look for sandy patches to drop the anchor and avoid the Posidonia meadows. Shelter from NE through SE, exposed to the prevailing W winds and to the libeccio. Centuri harbour lies 0.4 NM to the S and Barcaggio 3.2 NM to the NE around the cape.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. Water, ice and a small fuel berth at Centuri harbour, whose basin is reserved mainly for the local fishing fleet.

Ashore

Centuri is a small lobster-fishing port with a few seafood restaurants on the quay, 10 minutes on foot from the cove. The Sentier des Douaniers of Cap Corse passes above, with walks to Tour de l'Agnello and the Moulin Mattei viewpoint.

History

Centuri has been a fishing settlement since Roman times and remains one of the main spiny lobster ports of Corsica, with the local fleet landing catch from April to September.
