Guide
Approach and anchoring
Barcaggio sits on the exposed north coast of Cap Corse between the Giraglia island and the Îles Finocchiarola nature reserve. The bay opens north and is exposed to the libeccio from the west and the tramontane from the north. Centuri lies 3,4 nm SW as a better-protected refuge, Macinaggio 3,6 nm SE on the east coast. Anchor on sand off the beach in settled weather.
Practical
No marina infrastructure beyond a small quay used by local fishermen. Water and services are limited. A bar-restaurant and a small grocery open in the hamlet in summer. Nearest fuel at Macinaggio.
Ashore
Sentier des Douaniers coastal path runs east from Barcaggio to Macinaggio via the Tour d'Agnello, 10 km one way. Plage de Barcaggio, wide sand beach with free-roaming cattle, adjoins the hamlet. Îles Finocchiarola nature reserve 1,5 nm east, seabird sanctuary with summer landing ban to protect the Yelkouan shearwater colony.
