Approach and anchoring

Approach from the north between the mainland and the Île de la Giraglia, watching the tidal race that runs round the cap with any wind against stream. Drop on sand patches between algae in 4 to 8 metres, checking the set of the anchor as weed patches spoil holding. Protected from SW through S to SE, open to the north where the libeccio swell wraps around the cap.

Practical

No services. Hamlet of Tollare has a handful of houses and no shop. Barcaggio 0.6 NM east for a small beach and a seasonal café-restaurant. Centuri port 3.1 NM SW on the west coast for supplies, water and the lobster fleet.

Ashore

Genoese tower of Tollare built in the 16th century stands above the cove, one of the coastal watch towers of Cap Corse. Sentier des douaniers coastal path links Tollare to Barcaggio and Centuri, with Agriates-type maquis and grazing cows on the shore. Réserve naturelle des Îles Finocchiarola lies 3 NM east along the coast, a seabird breeding reserve.
