The D-Day beaches by sea
10 places · Normandy
Sixty kilometres of coast between Carentan and Ouistreham, with four harbours to work along it: Carentan at the end of its channel, Grandcamp-Maisy for Utah and the Pointe du Hoc, Port-en-Bessin for Omaha, Courseulles for Juno and Ouistreham for Sword. Off Arromanches, in fair weather you anchor among the Phoenix caissons of the artificial harbour. Every harbour has a sill: plan each leg around high water.
