Approach and anchoring

Reach bounded by the Thoraise lock and the 185 m Thoraise tunnel on the Doubs canalised section. Maximum draught 1,8 m. Tunnel is single-lane and signal controlled.

Practical

3 berths on the pontoon directly above the lock and in front of the tunnel, with no water or electricity. No fuel or shops on site, though there is a bakery up in the village. A rest area with a barbecue and toilet is open only to visitors of the art installations and closes at 7pm. Besancon town quay at the Tunnel is 6.3 NM north-east for full services.

Ashore

Art installations line the bank and the tunnel itself. The EuroVelo 6 cycle route passes the halt. La Veloupe halt lies 2.1 NM west on the same canal. Besancon Tunnel quay 6.3 NM north-east gives access to Besancon city centre for resupply.
