Small pontoon on the Doubs at the entrance of the tunnel sous la Citadelle in Besançon, 4 berths.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
The tunnel sous la Citadelle is 375 m long and bypasses the loop of the Doubs around the old town. Check air draught before entering. Soundings fall short of the 1.5 m marked: about 1.6 metres at the front pontoon and 1.2 metres at the rear, and only right alongside. Off the pontoons the fairway carries around 1.3 metres or less over mud and fallen branches, and the silted canal inlet from the town loop shoals further at low water.
Practical
Two pontoons of 25 metres between the lock and the tunnel, free of charge and with no services, used mainly as a waiting pontoon for the tunnel.
Ashore
Close to the city centre of Besançon and its citadel, on the EuroVelo 6 cycle route.
