Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south-east in clear weather. Anchor on sand in 5 to 6 m, good holding. Exposed to S and SW winds, and a southerly swell works in even when the wind is off the land, so avoid it in any swell. Protected from NW through E. The wash of fishing and tourist boats using the commercial port to the north keeps it busy; stay clear of the port entrance and of swimmers by the beach. Sète VHF 12.
Practical
No services on the anchorage itself. Dinghy landing on the beach at the foot of Mont Saint-Clair. The port of Sète sits 0.2 nm to the NE with visitor berths, water, diesel and chandlery at the Môle Saint-Louis marina.
Ashore
Théâtre de la Mer Jean Vilar on the mole, 1 953-seat open-air theatre built into the Fort Saint-Pierre, hosts the Fiest'A Sète world music festival in July and August. Marché des Halles covered market 900 m north in the town centre. Cimetière marin and the Paul Valéry museum 600 m west above the cliff.
