One of the largest marinas on the French Mediterranean coast, 1885 berths on the Roussillon lido between Canet and Argelès.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entrance from the east between two jetties marked by red and green lights. Maximum draught 3.5 m, deep channel compared with neighbouring ports, though restriction buoys narrow the passage to under 3 m in places, so line up carefully. A new floating visitor pontoon just inside the entrance takes boats side-on and is well lit and reasonably sheltered. VHF channel 9. Strong tramontane from NW and easterly swell are the main concerns on the approach.
Practical
1885 berths for boats from 6 m to 30 m on three separate basins. Fuel berth with diesel and petrol, water and power at every berth, sanitary blocks with showers, travel hoist up to 45 tonnes, full boatyard. The office is closed on Sundays and often unattended in the afternoon. On arrival at those times, phone for the code to the key box for the sanitary block. Rates are low off-season, around 18 euros for a 10 m boat in October. Shops, restaurants and supermarket within the port precinct.
Ashore
Long sandy beach either side of the harbour entrance. Étang de Canet-Saint-Nazaire, bird reserve with flamingos, 2 km north. Art collection at the Fondation François Desnoyer in the old village of Saint-Cyprien, 2 km inland. Canigou massif visible to the west on clear days.
