Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Baie de Quiberon, keeping clear of the rocks off Pointe Churchill. Anchor on sand in 2 to 5 metres. Shelter from N through E; open to southerly winds and the prevailing SW swell. A NW thermal breeze often builds in the late afternoon and drops away at night in settled weather. Boats can also anchor off Ti Bihan beach a little further south, where the water is deeper. Anse du Pô lies 0.8 NM N and Port de Carnac 0.9 NM E for a tighter harbour if the weather turns.

Practical

Four buoys at the outer edge of the field, the furthest from the beach, are kept for visitors, in about 1 metre at low water, though they are not always free. Water available ashore. No pontoon, no fuel, no harbour master. Shops in Carnac-Plage within walking distance of the beach.

Ashore

Saint-Colomban beach fronts the anchorage. Alignments of Carnac standing stones, a Neolithic site dating to 4500-3300 BC, lie about 2 km inland. Restaurants and shops of Carnac-Plage are within 500 m of the beach.
