Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Baie de Quiberon in daylight, watching for rocks along the peninsula's east shore. Keep well clear of the Pointe du Conguel to the south. Holding is good on sand. The tidal range is large, so on spring tides anchor well off, up to 400 m from the breakwater, in as little as 1 m at low water. Exposed to easterlies blowing across the bay from Houat and Hoëdic.
Practical
No facilities on the spot. Land the dinghy at the harbour wall, tying to the pier ladder, with the swimming area to one side of the channel. Nearest services are at Port-Haliguen 2.3 nautical miles to the SE, a marina run by the Compagnie des Ports du Morbihan with fuel, water and a boatyard. Port Maria, the ferry harbour for Belle-Île, lies 2.7 nautical miles S.
Ashore
Cafés and restaurants line the seafront a short walk from the landing, with coffee to be had on the beach. There is a morning market and a large market on Thursdays; the town centre and food shops lie about 10 minutes on foot.
