Anchorage along a reddish rocky shore beside the harbour of Capraia, in the Tuscan Archipelago. Weed bottom, sheltered from north, west and south, and open to the east.

Approach and anchoring

The 10 m line runs close to the beach buoys and two special marks, with the 20 m line close beyond it. In August 2025 a boat anchored in 30 m over rock and weed in the outer harbour, a hard set that held. Keep clear of the middle, where the large ferry turns. Mooring buoys lie to port on entering, a fish farm to starboard. Harbour traffic and the daily ferry can stir the water by day.

Practical

The harbour has room for dinghies. In 2025 a few shops included a small grocery with bread in the morning only. Free filtered and chilled drinking water at fountains on the harbour and in the village. Rubbish bins at both ends of the harbour. Fuel was dear in 2025. The village is an easy walk or a shuttle bus ride. Two beach restaurants. A nightclub below the corner of the pier played music until 1:30 am in August 2022.
