Approach and anchoring

Located on the Seine at kilometre point 202. The Amfreville-Poses lock system marks the limit of tidal influence on the Seine. Craft passing downstream enter tidal waters below the lock. There are two berths, one served and one without facilities; the latter is shallow, so lie towards the downstream end of the 1.7 m quay. Contact the lock keeper on VHF before transit.

Practical

Berthing alongside the quay at bollards in front of the tourist office, with water and electricity from tokens bought at the office, 2 euros for 10 minutes of water and 2 euros for an hour of power. Free showers stand beside the tourist office. The posted limit is 3 nights. Halte nautique managed by the commune, no fuel on site. A small shop is about 10 minutes' walk.

Ashore

Base de loisirs de Léry-Poses on the adjacent lake, 1 km, with swimming beach, pedalos and a sailing school. Musée de la Batellerie de Poses on the riverfront documents Seine barge traffic. Forêt de Bord-Louviers hiking trails start 3 km west.

History

The Poses lock was built between 1878 and 1887 and remains the downstream limit of canalised Seine traffic. Before canalisation the river was tidal as far as Rouen.
