Approach and anchoring
Approach at half-tide or above; the bay dries extensively on the Manche coast with a tidal range exceeding 12 m at springs. Keep a close watch on SHOM 7156 and on the drying heights before dropping. Anchor on sand off the beach below the lighthouse, outside the buoys in about 3 to 4 metres; holding is good but the space between the rock ledges is fairly narrow. It lies quiet in a northerly, though a cross-set between mid-tide and high water, out of line with the wind, sets up a roll. Abandoned rope lies silted into the bottom in places and can foul an anchor.
Practical
Mooring forain, no services. Hérel marina at Granville lies 9.1 NM east with a sill gate opening around high water, fuel and full facilities. Port Picain 10.5 NM south offers a fair-weather anchorage.
Ashore
A path from the anchorage leads to the beach, where a dinghy can be landed at any state of the tide, and on to a bar and grocery.
