Approach and anchoring

Reached from the canal du Rhône à Sète, which crosses the town. The fixed bridges give about 3.5 metres air draught. No tidal constraint, but watch for commercial and hire barges. Visitor berths lie alongside the quay against short wooden finger pontoons with bows to a pole, shallow and tight for boats over 10 metres; larger yachts are sent to a few unserviced spots about 900 metres towards Sète.

Practical

Pontoons along the canal in the town centre. A night costs around 18 euros with electricity, water and showers, the facilities shared with a busy campsite. Halt Palavas-les-Flots sits 0.3 NM west and Port On Land 0.5 NM west for additional berths. All shops, bakeries and restaurants within walking distance, and a bus to Montpellier stops nearby.

Ashore

Palavas beach runs along the seafront 500 m south of the canal. Phare de la Méditerranée, the former water tower converted into a panoramic restaurant, rises 45 m above the town. Étang du Méjean nature reserve, with flamingos, starts 2 km west.
