Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the west. The waters from Pointe Mahault to Pointe à Lézard, about 981 ha around the Îlets Pigeon, form a cœur of the Parc national de la Guadeloupe, where boats may only stop on the Park's moorings. Keep under 5 knots within 300 m of the shore.
Practical
No fuel at the harbour. Multihulls accepted according to Navily. Dive centres on the neighbouring Malendure beach run trips out to the islets.
Ashore
Malendure beach, base of the dive clubs, runs north of the harbour. The Bain du Curé hot spring is at Pointe à l'Abbé, 0.8 nm south.
History
Pigeon takes its name from sieur Pigeon, one of the landowners who started sugar growing here in the 17th century. The district was the first site of the village of Bouillante.
