Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from within the Golfe du Morbihan, leaving the Île aux Moines to the south. The channel is marked between Port-Blanc and the island, but take care near the south cardinal where two green rock poles can confuse. Strong tidal streams run in the pass, up to 5 knots at springs, and the berths themselves lie in a strong current. Berths are floating pontoons and mooring buoys set off the shore, reached only by the harbour launch, and the wash of ferries and RIBs makes them roll heavily by day until the traffic stops in the evening. Pontoon 1 to the north is deeper than pontoon 2, which takes up to 1,4 m, and deeper boats need a buoy, so call ahead. VHF 9.

Practical

410 berths run by the Compagnie des Ports du Morbihan and priced on the high side, near 48 euros for a 12 m boat, but free out of season with the Passeport Escales. Water and electricity reach only some pontoons, with none on pontoon 2 or the buoys, and the water supply is often out. Getting ashore depends on the harbour launch, which runs set hours only, roughly 8am to 9.45pm in July and ending earlier in spring. Three showers only, clean but undersized, with queues in season. Bike hire beside the harbour office. Restaurant and small grocery within 200 m of the landing.

Ashore

Sentier côtier GR34 runs past the port along the northern shore of the Golfe. Village of Baden 2,5 km inland with shops and a weekly market. Across the pass, the Île aux Moines offers a 17 km coastal footpath around the island, with Pointe du Trec'h and Pointe de Brouel reachable on foot from the ferry landing and an Intermarche for provisions. Oysters can be tasted on site at the Établissements Martin.
